My business allows me to have the flexibility I've always dreamed of. I can attend to my children needs anytime of the day. I can do the school pick up and drop off. I can easily coordinate nap times, medical appointments and cooking nutritional meals around my work and we can take a family holiday whenever we like.

WHAT LED ME HERE: I have been a Radiographer Sonographer for the past 18 years. It has been a very rewarding fulfilling career. However, like most mothers my priorities changed dramatically the day I brought my daughter home from hospital. I wanted to spend every day with her. Experiencing the good times and those important milestones along with the bad days when she was feeling ill or just need me to be by her side. When I went back to work I missed my daughter a lot. It can be very challenging leaving your children in someone else's care, not to mention how expensive child care fees can be.
BE THE MUM (OR DAD) YOU HAVE ALWAYS WANTED TO BE: When my son was born he was a very fussy baby. He never slept and refused to take a bottle which made going back to work after 12 months very difficult. I delayed my maternity leave for another year and I started looking for a better way. I responded to an add (similar to this one) for mothers on maternity leave to work from home. That little decision instantly changed the direction of our lives. Empowering me with incredible freedom and incredible choices. I discovered THERE IS A BETTER WAY to juggle family life and work.
At the moment life is not as we know it. This business has allowed me to embrace the change and transfer my skills online. I now work independently and on my own terms doing something meaningful.
I never imagined that it would be possible to start my own business and be my own boss with two little kids at home. But guess what it is possible and I have received a tremendous amount of support through this business and I feel personally rewarded in ways I never expected.
LIVING AWAY FROM HOME: I have lived in Melbourne now for nearly 15 years but I grew up on the south coast of NSW and all of my family are still there. Over the years I have missed countless birthdays and celebrations with my family. I longed to have the freedom to be able to visit them whenever I wanted. Even at a moments notice if something important like a family health matter were to arise. I grew up spending time at the beach swimming, snorkelling and camping and I didn't want my kids to miss out on the same lifestyle. They are very close to their cousins and now I have the ability to visit multiple times a year.
SUCCESS TO ME MEANS: being financially independent without compromising on your health or the time you spend with your family and loved ones. It is so rewarding having my own business that allows me to earn a great income and gives me a new unexpected creative outlet.
